After having a one to one with Amanda, I found a little inspiration in my previous drawings of the garments. even though I didn't consider any of my drawings good they're still sources of inspiration. I wanted to keep my designs simple and quick to draw. my problem with this unit is my confidence with drawing it has caused so many problems and stopped me finding my "mojo" in this unit I struggled to find anything to be inspired by as I didn't think this unit would be based around fashion. being emerged with Fashion has been the most intimidating thing for me with the whole of Hall of Mirrors being based around Fashion I instantly felt lost. The Fashion students seemed more comfortable in there subject where as being a Tipster this through me so far out of my comfort zone. Throughout this unit I have found it incredibly hard my confidence has been knocked massively in my work and I didn't think I was capable of achieving a high level, this effected my attitude towards the unit and I am deeply disappointed and embarrassed with the work I have produced. but nonetheless this has been a massive learning curve as has the rest of my first year, in the exhibition seeing the work that was produced in the digital collaborations workshop I recognised that is the area of study in which I wanted to gain more skill in and further my knowledge in this area. First year for me has been all about finding in which areas I was good in, and this unit hasn't been for me. if I could go back to the beginning I would have tried harder to find more focus and develop a stronger body of work and faced up to the challenge of this unit. but overall I am both disappointed and great-full for this unit as I now know which area of work I want to work more in and what my strong attributes and weak attributes are.

I really enjoyed Tuesdays session, by picking out different details in the garments I developed a selection of sketches and mark making images. Turning some of garments inside out created different lines and shapes to draw out which I thought was a good way of gathering more visual research of the details in the garment. My confidence with drawing has always been low so with this unit I thought I would try and gather more skills and see how my drawing
ability could be improved.

The thought of Belle Vue being here in Manchester is so exciting! From the animals to the speedway to the fairground and its own brewery, there is something about Belle Vue that makes me feel like a child again. I love the innocence that is attached to it and how an elephant named Maharajah walked over 200 miles with his keeper Lorenzo Lawrence from the streets of Edinburgh to Belle Vue this created even more publicity for the "Showground of the World".

I really enjoyed the Blackpool trip, the weather was fabulous and the pictures turned out great! it was a really good source of inspiration. I loved that we had a talk before we had a tour of the pleasure beach, finding out about the history of the rides and journey the park has been through made it more exciting when I was walking around. The park is an amazing place with old and new rides which I think is what makes it a great place for any age.

The costume department was amazing, full of detailed head dresses, costumes and accessories. The flamboyant head dresses were my favourite and I couldn't believe the weight of them!

This unit I have tried my hardest to show my potential in every way. I have worked hard trying to catch up on everything I had missed and have done well in doing so, even though some of my samples may not be up to the standard I would like I still think I have done well in completing them with the time I have had to take off. Print has always been my strong point and when starting this unit I was really excited to get started so when getting around to the chance of finally screen printing I wanted to try and show that I can use colour and composition well.
Andy Warhol has forever been my favourite print artist because of the colour and composition he uses. I always try to use bright and vibrant colour in my work because I find print so exciting I like to express that through the colour by making each colour look as good as the other by bouncing off each other. I would have liked to experiment in this unit by using a minimum amount of darker colours and find a way of making them as eye catching and engaging as the samples with the bright colours. I wish I would have had the time to be able to do this unit from the very beginning just so I could show my full potential and have been able to experiment a lot more instead I just wanted to complete what I needed.

These are my strongest prints I have produced because of my absence my screen wasn't prepared as early and then when I came around to booking the print room there was only one session left. I am pleased with the outcome of these prints although I think they could have been improved a lot if I would have had more time to think about the composition and the colour but with limited time I just wanted to produce basic screen prints to demonstrate that I can use work in this way. If I would have had considered the amount of time it takes to create a high standard amount of prints I would of produced a collection of samples that relate to each other more.

After being taught how to use the dye baths I remembered a tie-dying technique I had learnt in college using Brush-o-dyes which fitted perfectly. I wrapped different sized buttons and in heavyweight cotton fabric and the dipped them into coloured dyes to contribute to my colour scheme. The one on the left I used my screen for the first time to test out how the smaller details would print. I have always enjoyed creating backgrounds for screen print and other techniques in this way its and easy way to fill up your sample with colour. I adore when using dip dye all the colours merge and melt into each other and you can create a whole range of colours that ouse together. It almost reminds me of a flower petal the way the colour runs and adds a creasing effect where the fabric has been tied together.
